Treat YOY-self! Achievements and Data Trends after Seven Years Monitoring Young-of-the-Year rockfish in the southern Salish Sea

The only activity more gratifying than counting plants and animals underwater might be talking about the results of doing so for many years. Join Adam as he takes you on a tour through recovery of ESA listed rockfishes in the Salish Sea, his collaboration with many partners to build a survey network (notably including Harbor WildWatch!), and the high-level data this effort is already producing. This project is an example of scientifically rigorous work, built over a long-period of time with dedicated stewards of the Salish Sea, such as yourselves. Strap on your fins, we are going under!

Adam Obaza is a marine biologist that has worked all over the country and has found a home with Paua Marine Research Group. He primarily works out of Southern California on white abalone recovery and eelgrass restoration, but followed a girl to the northwest eight years ago and has no desire to completely leave.

Cocktails & Fishtales is Harbor WildWatch’s science-social series. Held monthly, these programs feature a scientist, researcher, or environmental artist on an ecological topic. While these programs are traditionally 21+ and held at a local taproom or venue, during the pandemic they have shifted to an online format for all ages. They continue to serve as an engaging and interactive way to learn about the environment, and bring together eco-enthusiasts from our local community… and, now, beyond. Questions and interaction are highly encouraged!

Cocktails & Fishtales are educational events. As such, Harbor WildWatch does not endorse any speaker, service, or product represented at Cocktails & Fishtales.

To access Facebook Live events, simply search Harbor WildWatch on Facebook at the scheduled time to find the live feed on our page.
