Vol. SCUBA Event – Rockfish Survey

While connecting with other divers for a dive or two, you are also invited to learn about conducting a young-of-year rockfish survey – a community science collaboration with NOAA and Paua Marine Research Group, locally organized between Harbor WildWatch and Tacoma SCUBA Dive Club. The dive brief from Harbor WildWatch biologist, Stena Troyer will include a short rockfish survey training which is a twist of science you can add to any future splash – no scientific experience necessary. Following the survey training, the group will put your survey skills to the test with a Tacoma SCUBA Club Dive.

May 19th at Point Ruston Ferry. Meet Stena in the parking area across the street from the beach access (the corner of N 49th St and Ruston Way) Enter using the curb on the 49th street side so as to avoid driving on the grass.
Survey Training: 6pm
Day Dive: Splash around 7pm
Night Dive: Splash around 9pm- proper certification required.
Sunset 8:45pm
